We're BAAACK! PDF Print E-mail

You might be wondering what we've been up to. Well, in addition to having grandbabies (Cheryl) and recovering from cancer (Rosie - yet again!) we have taken a whole new approach to website development. Since we've both had life-changing events in our personal lives, we thought it would be good to have job-changing events in our job lives as well. We have now embraced a web-based software concept known as a Content Management System. The specific software we are using is Joomla!™

  • Find Out What a Content Management System Is
  • A CMS gives a web developer the opportunity to get out of the content business. Instead, the people who own the content can take on the responsibility of adding and updating their own information. There are a lot of benefits to this. The webmaster has more time to devote to the administrative and developmental duties of the website, rather than performing what is essentially a time-consuming clerical function. The webmaster can no longer be blamed if content and links are out-of-date. The folks working on their own content feel more ownership of their part of the website. They are in the best position to know what needs updating and in what timeframe.

  • Why Joomla!

It was always our hope that the DAWG website would be a place where we could share information and ideas. In the past, our website was static. We didn't have a mechanism by which we could easily set up two-way communication with you. This is the best reason to use a CMS and one we should consider as developers of Nevada Governmental web sites. The functionality to communicate with you, our readers, is built into the application.
